The Tapovanam Maharaj Trust is dedicated to the memory of Swami Sri Tapovanam Maharaj. It has been set up with the purpose of preserving and presenting the life and works of Swami Tapovanam Maharaj and his disciple, Swami Sundaranand ji, for today and posterity. The trust also owns and looks after the Tapovanam Hiranyagarbha Art Gallery and Museum situated at Gangotri. It is the largest of its kind in the region and has on exhibit, rare and unique photographs of the Gangotri region, the Garhwal Himalayas and even the Greater Himalayas, taken over a period of four decades by Swami Sundaranand. Also on display are distinctive rocks, inimitably beautiful driftwood and the personal belongings of Tapovanam Maharaj dating back to almost a century.
Swami Sundaranand ji and preceding him, his revered Guruji, Tapovanam Maharaj ji, have left in their wake a monumental legacy of knowledge, wisdom and a palpable hyperawareness about divinity, Vedic literacy, Yogic enlightenment, ecological mindfulness and an eternal reverence for the Himalayas and the Ganga. This legacy is immeasurable in its value, irreplaceable in content and can be the epicenter for not just the rejuvenation but the virtual rebirth of ancient Vedic and Yogic learnings, a waning spirituality and empathy for Mother Nature, something that is vital in these materialistic times.
The Tapovanam Maharaj Trust is aimed at giving the coming generations an opportunity of getting to know the immense knowledge, values, spiritual wisdom and sensitivity to Mother Nature that existed in our country since the beginning but has off late been fading away.
